nDimensional Time Travel Chess is now live on itch.io!
Yes you heard me right! I have officially released an early development build on the platform itch.io! There are definitely some issues, but the game is functional and is a blast if you like chess and completely breaking your brain! And don’t worry, the time travel part is optional.
I stayed up until 4 in the morning last night playing what is likely the first game of properly 5D Chess! We ended up stopping about halfway through, and decided we need a save system! That’s not quite here, but it is planned very, very soon!

so i definitely don’t agree with matpat. however. donkey kong jr, the sequel to donkey kong, explicitly states that the red and blue guy is mario, and that he’s capturing donkey kong as a direct response to what happened in the original donkey kong.
but here’s the thing!! mario DIES at the end of donkey kong jr in the nes version (he just runs away in the arcade version). so i’m thinking that he just revives because he has extra lives
but then there’s donkey kong 94. it seems to be not a sequel to donkey kong, but an expanded port! like it’s an alternate universe. this may be beyond the scope of the question, but alternate universes DO exist in the mario timeline. literally, the end of super mario galaxy resets the universe and i PRESUME. that some events had to happen again before super mario galaxy 2 happened. but you know what they say when you make presumptions, you make a pres out of you and mptions
so perhaps donkey kong 94 is the current timeline version of the events of donkey. the same could be said of any donkey kong port, or even the original donkey kong! so i guess my answer to the question is, the player character IS mario, but perhaps not the mario we play as in the modern games. and it depends on if he died in donkey kong jr. sorry i’ve put a lot of thought into this!!

48hr tumblr blackout proposal
tumblr mobile has seadily become near unusable these past few updates. not just from a user experience perspective (which is important enough in itself) but also from an accessibility perspective.
examples include the new way the image viewer works (if you can call it "working"), the tumblr live button replacing the profile button, and that newly created blogs will be forced to have their main dashboard tab be the 'for you' page.
the demands of the protest would be along the lines of:
- reverse the recent image viewer update
- scrap the new users 'for you' page default setting
- let us turn off tumblr live indefinitely
- increase efforts against spam / porn bots
- make reporting abuse and hate speech as easy as reporting as reporting spam
- let us go nuts show nuts again... for real this time
- commit to improving usability and accessibility, and listening to users!
- (suggestions welcome!)
to protest against these usability issues, and inspired by the recent reddit blackout, i propose a 48 hour blackout (where you don't use tumblr at all). preferably of both mobile and web (since web has problems too) but mobile is the focus here.
I suggest the 48 hours between the 30th of June to the end of the 1st of July.
this marks the end of pride month (for the "queerest place on the internet") and the start of disability month (since accessibility is a massive issue here).
tumblr office is in San Francisco, USA, so the times and dates will be calculated using their time zone (PDT).

tumblr rejected the blaze campaigns for this post because they know it would hurt them. let's make this an indefinite blackout - it's the best way to get results.
